dc.description.abstractThis paper is dedicated to the memory of the Dutch carcinologist, Lipke Bijdeley Holthuis (1921-2008) as a tribute to his legacy. His carcinological interests and his contribution to the carcinology of the Canary Islands are summarized. His discoveries in the Canaries within the framework of the CANCAP project, amongst other great scientific expeditions in the eastern Atlantic, are referenced. Also highlighted is the importance he attributed to taxonomy.-
