Brachiopods collected from the Selvagens Islands are important elements of the biodiversity developed in this well delimited portion of the eastern Atlantic. Species from deep water are not easily accessible and the use of a remotely operated vehicle was an exceptional opportunity for investigating the brachiopod fauna of the mid-part of the slope in the Madeira Archipelago. Among the material collected (6 species), the terebratulid Acrobelesia cooperi (D Hondt, 1976) is recorded for the first time from the Selvagens.-
